Samosa Recipe – How to prepare tasty and yummy Punjabi Samosa

Below is my style recipe to prepare Punjabi Samosa with step by step photos. Hope you all enjoy and like it.

Punjabi Samosa Recipe

Ingredients

    For Dough
  • Maida (all purpose flour) (3 cups)
  • Semolina (Sooji) (1/2 cup) (optional)
  • Carom Seeds / Ajwain (2 teaspoons)
  • Salt (as per taste)
  • Oil (3 teaspoon)
  • Water (as required)
  • For stuffing
  • Potato (3 to 4 pieces) (approx 500 grams)
  • Green peas (1 cup) (approx 50 grams)
  • Fennel Seeds (Saumph) (1 teaspoon)
  • Coriander seeds (Dhaniya) (1 teaspoon)
  • Green chilies (2 to 3 pieces)
  • Ginger (1 inch piece)
  • Curry leaves (Kadi patta) (3 to 4 pieces)
  • Salt (as per taste)
  • Turmeric powder (1/2 teaspoon)
  • Red  chilies powder (1 teaspoon) (optional)
  • Oil (2 teaspoons)
  • Coriander leaves (few branches)
  • Asafoetida (1/5 teaspoon)

Instructions

    For Dough
  1. In wide vassal take Maida (all purpose flour) and add Sooji (semolina) and mix it well.
  2. Add salt, carom seeds (Ajwain), 1 teaspoon oil add water and knead a tight dough. After kneading add 2 teaspoon oil and knead again.
  3. Dough is ready keep it aside.
  4. For Stuffing
  5. Boil and mash potatoes.
  6. Boil green peas and keep it aside.
  7. Heat oil in the pan and add asafoetida, fennel seeds, coriander seeds, curry leaves, ginger and chili paste, turmeric powder.
  8. Add mashed potatoes and mix well.
  9. Add salt and red chili powder and mix well.
  10. Add boiled green peas and mix well.
  11. Stuffing is now ready. Cool it down to room temperature.
  12. Assembling
  13. Divide dough into 10 equal pieces and make dough balls.
  14. Take dough ball on rolling board and dust with dry all purpose flour (Maida) and roll with rolling pin to make 5 to 6 inch diameter circle.
  15. Cut down circle in to two half circle.
  16. Take one half circle and apply water on edges of it.
  17. Give it cone shape and hold it in your hand.
  18. Put two teaspoon stuffing and seal it.
  19. Heat oil in the pan and fry Samosa till it becomes golden brown and crispy.
  20. Samosa are ready to serve. Enjoy.
