Batata Poha (Flattened rice) Recipe – Quickly make Bata Poha in your Kitchen

Delicious Batata PohaBatata Poha is the delicious dish and it is one of the most eaten breakfast dish in many Indian households.

I just love all dishes made with Poha. I prefer to have this on Sunday morning.


I actually love this dish so much that I eat lot of it in breakfast and totally skip lunch sometimes :).

Batata Poha (Flattened rice) Recipe

Batata Poha (Flattened rice) Recipe

Ingredients

  • Poha (2 cups)
  • Onion (2 pieces)
  • Potato (2 pieces)
  • Tomato (1 piece)
  • Green chilies (1 to 2 pieces) (optional)
  • Peanuts ( ¼ cup) (optional)
  • Cumin seeds (1 teaspoon)
  • Asafoetida (Hing) (¼ teaspoon)
  • Mustard seeds (¼ teaspoon)
  • Red chili powder (2 to 3 teaspoons)
  • Coriander powder (2 teaspoons)
  • Coriander leaves (few branches)
  • Lemon juice (1 teaspoon)
  • Sugar (1 teaspoon) (optional)
  • Curry leaves (5 to 6 pieces)
  • Salt (as per taste)

Instructions

  1. Rinse Poha in running water and keep them aside for 5 minutes.
  2. Cut onion, chilies, tomato and potato in medium size.
  3. Heat oil in the pan and add asafoetida.
  4. Add cumin seeds and mustard seeds and sizzle.
  5. Add curry leaves and peanuts and saute till peanuts turn pink.
  6. Add onion and saute till it becomes transparent.
  7. Add potatoes and saute till it becomes soft.
  8. Add tomatoes and saute till it become soft.
  9. Add red chili powder, salt, cumin powder, coriander powder and if you wish you can add sugar and saute.
  10. Add poha and mix them well with all the ingredients.
  11. Add lime juice and garnish with coriander.
  12. Batata Poha are ready.
